HOW YOU HANDLE THE "DOWN" TIMES IS WHAT MAKES YOU A REAL CHAMPION

BROKEN PROMISES, USELESS CONTRACTS: THE CURRENT STATE OF COACHING
Submitted by Dr. G on Thu, 01/28/2010 - 16:36.It's not the best team that always wins. It's the team that plays best together that is most often successful! You're NOT being "helpful" when you push your children athletically. You're NOT going to inspire them to athletic greatness when you get angry at them after a bad/disappointing performance. Here's a little success recipe for you: Start with a big, scary dream and then combine with a ton of HARD WORK; Next, add a massive amount of DEDICATION and blend well; Then sprinkle liberally with DAILY COMMITMENT for years on end; Be sure to stir in a healthy quantity of OBSESSION WITH THE JOURNEY and mix with all of the above ing Athletic execution in every sport is all about quick and biomechanically complicated movements. Even in a sport like golf, where the action waits for you, the swing is complex and extremely fast. What does this mean for you as an athlete? Simple! Think when you perform and you'll be totally lost! On December 16th Texas Tech football player Adam James was injured in practice. The next day he was diagnosed with a concussion. According to the player's allegations and confirmed by witnesses, head coach Mike Leach then instructed his coaches to twice put James in a small dark place for hours while the team practiced. Please forgive me because I can't help myself! It's in my DNA as a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan. My genetic code has preprogrammed me to hate the NY Yankees. But I am not at all ashamed to admit that I absolutely love Derek Jeter. The man is a genuine class act. He is the ultimate professional, the All Star's ALL STAR and I'm not just talking about his prodigious athletic talents. I've been on break the last three weeks because when I can, I try to practice what I preach. In this case, rest is a critical and integral part of training and athletic success. Tiger Woods is getting far more publicity than he'd like these days for a different game he plays than golf. I guess you can call it the "cheating game." He got caught red-handed in the midst of a 3-year affair which apparently started when his wife was pregnant with the couple's first child. (OUCH!!) TOO MANY "I"s ON THE TEAM? THEN THE COACH ISN'T DOING HIS/HER JOB!
