COMPETING TO GET BETTER vs. COMPETING SO AS NOT TO LOSE

There are two, vastly different headsets that an athlete can take into a competition. The first will help that athlete stay loose under pressure, take risks and perform more freely, and thus closer to his/her potential.

COACHING THE NEANDERTHAL WAY: USING DOMINATION AND FEAR

There's a very old school of coaching out there. VERY OLD as in prehistoric!!! It subscribes to the belief that the coach is the all powerful, all-knowing OZ and NO ONE on the team should ever question or challenge him/her.

WHAT YOUTH SPORTS SHOULD BE ABOUT: WINNING AND GAME FIXING

Just when you thought you had heard it all, along comes Michael Kman, a 45 year old basketball "coach" (and I use the term extremely loosely here), who in mid-May was arrested by Pa. State police and charged with trying to bribe basketball officials with $2500.00 to fix games!!!!

THIS JUST IN FROM THE NFL: CHEATING IS COOL!

It's always heartwarming to know that the NFL is taking "positive" (no pun intended) steps to ban cheaters from its' ranks. In the first month of last season, Texas outside linebacker Brian Cushing tested positive for hCG or Human chorionic gonadotropin.

Prince was mercilessly picked on both physically and emotionally.

She had been playing competitively for a very long time for a high level club team, claimed it was no longer fun and that she had lost her passion for the sport, and now she wanted to stop.
