ATHLETES' BILL OF RIGHTS

ATHLETES' BILL OF RIGHTS

You're the COACH. It's YOUR team,

and if you follow this ATHLETE'S BILL OF RIGHTS,

you'll consistently produce, hard working, motivated peak performers!

Athletes have the right:

To work HARD and PURSUE EXCELLENCE

To be TREATED WITH RESPECT by you and their teammates

To FEEL EMOTIONALLY AND PHYSICALLY SAFE with you as a coach

WHEN INJURED, to be taken seriously by you

To have you set clear & firm limits so NO BULLYING/SCAPEGOATING occurs on your team

To MAKE MISTAKES AND FAIL WITHOUT FEAR, so that they can truly learn the game

That you make YOUR team a “SHAME-FREE” ZONE

That you know the game, HOW TO TEACH it and come prepared

To be TREATED FAIRLY by you

That you KEEP THE GAME and WINNING IN PERSPECTIVE

To have you WILLINGLY teach EVERYONE, regardless of talent level

To ACT THE ADULT, staying CALM and in EMOTIONAL CONTROL

That you BE CLEAR AND DIRECT in all of your COMMUNICATIONS with them

To allow more important things (i.e. school) to take priority, without fear of reprisal from you

To FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES when they do something well

To understand from you EXACTLY what they did that didn't work whenever they mess up

To HAVE FUN playing this sport!
