In Attitude, Coaching: Good/Bad/Unfair, Problems in Youth Sports

The very BEST coach I ever had BELIEVED in ME,
He encouraged me to BELIEVE in MYSELF and DREAM!
He REFUSED to let me get away with a MEDIOCRE effort,
He CHALLENGED me to push beyond my limits,
He CELEBRATED my successes, leading me to feel I had earned them,
He helped me learn and GROW FROM MY FAILURES,
He reassured me that I couldn’t learn and get better without collecting enough of them!
He TRUSTED me to TRUST MYSELF,
He RESPECTED & CARED about me as a person beyond my sport,
He “WALKED THE TALK” and modeled all that he taught me,
He was HONEST and TRUSTWORTHY,
He made me feel SAFE around him,
He kept what we were doing IN PERSPECTIVE,
He was consistently FAIR,
His only “favorites” where those athletes who consistently showed up, worked hard, had a positive attitude and were team players.

THE VERY BEST COACH I EVER HAD MADE ME A BETTER MAN, FATHER, HUSBAND AND THE TEACHER THAT I AM TODAY!

Way back then, he knew there were far more important things at stake than winning or losing a game!
