Workshops for
Coaches
Great coaching goes far beyond teaching technique and mechanics. Coaches shape team culture, influence athletic confidence, and play a critical role in how athletes respond to pressure, adversity and setbacks. The most successful coaches understand that confidence, focus, emotional regulation, resilience and mindset are all trainable skills that directly impact performance.
These workshops teach the core principles of peak performance and provide practical strategies coaches can immediately apply to help athletes develop the mental and emotional skills needed to compete with confidence, bounce back from setbacks, thrive under pressure and reach their full potential.
We help coaches:
- Integrate peak performance strategies into everyday coaching.
- Understand the do’s and don’ts of pregame psyching and competition preparation.
- Build confident, mentally tough and resilient athletes who can perform under pressure.
- Improve communication with athletes during challenging and high pressure moments.

Testimonials
We have had Alan Goldberg come do Mental Toughness Workshops every pre-Olympic year since 2004. We keep coming back to Alan because his information has been so transformative for our swim team, the Marlins Of Raleigh.
Alan first does a session with the parents where he gives real life examples of positive parent/child interactions and negative interactions. It is interesting to see the parents laugh at themselves as they see some of the good intentioned mistakes they have made. All the parents come away with new ways to communicate with their swimmers and also can set the groundwork for the session with the swimmers the following day.
Next he meets with the 13-Over swimmers and shares examples of positive mental preparation as well as mistakes. He gives the swimmers tools they can use to correct their thought processes. Our older swimmers and coaches still use these tools years later.
He finishes with a session for 12-under swimmers where he shrinks the older swimmers info into bites the younger swimmers can absorb and sets the groundwork for the swimmers to use to reshape their thinking.
We have seen so many swimmers who have gone from being tentative at competitions to being confident and positive. I can’t thank Alan enough for helping MOR grow and develop over the past 20 years.

Other than my parents, no one has influenced me more than Dr. Alan Goldberg. I first attended one of his mental toughness seminars in the mid 90s. I had been struggling as a high school teacher and coach when I happened upon his presentation at our local middle school. It was an “Aha” moment to say the least. Aside from helping me recognize my errors, Dr. Goldberg provided concrete ways to lead my teams and classes that made absolute sense to me. Developing focus and agency with a group of teenagers can often feel like a monumental challenge, yet Dr. G’s suggestions were full of inspiration, consistency and humor. His lessons about staying in the moment inform my practices to this very day. And now in my retirement I have been lucky to conduct similar classes for ultimate frisbee coaches, teams and players. I consider it an honor to pass on his wisdom to the next generation.

Sara is an expert in her field! The progress we’ve seen in our gymnasts is absolutely amazing! We have a few gymnasts with fear issues, and since using Sara’s strategies and techniques, their progress has been phenomenal. We’ve seen great improvements in confidence not only in the gym but during the meets too. Sara is the “missing link” in our program that is making everything gel together…not just with the athletes, but the coaches too.
Tayla, Owner- Hampshire Gymnastics School
Sara is a priceless addition to our staff. She has helped both gymnasts and staff to understand the biological reasons for the blocks that occur within athletics. Her work at Hampshire Gymnastics has allowed girls to work through their fears on various beam and floor skills. She has also been instrumental in helping our girls recognize and diffuse the nervousness and anxiety that can creep up during competitions. They have found more confidence and joy in gym and at meets!
Elizabeth, Coach-Hampshire Gymnastics School
Our organization has had the privilege of partnering with Dr G through both in-person workshops and mental toughness program, and the impact has been exceptional. Dr G’s ability to connect with our athletes (ages 12–18) is remarkable. He is an engaging, authentic speaker who communicates complex mental performance concepts in a way that is relatable, memorable, and immediately actionable. Our players leave his sessions energized and motivated, and we’ve watched them actively apply the techniques they learned to manage pressure, build confidence, overcome adversity, and compete with greater composure. The tools and mindset strategies have become part of our organization’s culture, extending well beyond the workshop itself. His passion for developing young athletes is evident in every interaction, and we wholeheartedly recommend him to any organization looking to elevate both the performance and character of its athletes.

You’ve worked with my club teams and spoke multiple times at the workshops that you run across the country. “Dr. G! YOU’RE THE BEST!
Mark Schubert – Olympic Coach Workshops at ESSC
Watched you present a workshop at The Cherry Hill, NJ clinic this year. Loved it! Felt that your presentation and products have made a huge impact on our season. Our young team finished 8-2 in our highly competitive League. We graduated 6 strong swimmers last year and most felt we’d be in a building mode. The potential was there and your program helped them to believe it and achieve it. The small team of 15 swimmers and 5 lacrosse players (there for the endurance and strength training and comic relief) finished runner up in our division 2 Sectionals! The 11 finalists scored enough points to take their first league plaque since our pool was built. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
